Informatics T20, Dallas: Promising begin at 2026 Major League Cricket (MLC) for Texas Super Kings as they stunned Seattle Orcas in a high-scoring contest at Dallas by six wickets. The game included centuries from both teams, but it was veteran South Africa batter Faf du Plessis who stole the show with record innings.
Texas Super Kings chased the mammoth target of 221 with comfort. Unbeaten 113 (52), 8 fours, and 6 sixes from Du Plessis leading the charge. In doing so, the 41-year-old became the oldest player ever to score a century in T20 cricket, beating former England captain Paul Collingwood’s record.
A rapid partnership between du Plessis and Rilee Rossouw provided an early impetus for the chase. Rossouw didn’t hang around, making 49 off just 21 balls as the Super Kings made swift progress ahead of the target. They put on a rapid 95 runs off only 37 balls to set the platform for a successful chase.
Wiaan Mulder and then finished the job off with 31* from 15 balls to secure Texas’s win with nine balls to spare. It was a powerful batting demonstration that affirms the team’s intent and ammunition as it embarks upon a new season.
Earlier, Seattle Orcas had posted a mammoth 220 for 2 after electing to bat first. Opener Tim Seifert laid the foundations with a superb century of 104 for his sixth T20 century. He was well supported by Shayan Jahangir who scored 78 off 47 balls. The duo stitched a staggering 191-run opening wicket partnership and looked to have laid down the foundation of a match-winning score.
But the one major difference between both sides was how fast either of them scored. Seattle kept tacking runs on but Texas kept coming after it in the chase. The final blow was deal by left-arm pacer Nandre Burger, whose 4 for 27 restricted the ferocious Orcas from making it past 220.
Texas Super Kings made a powerful statement in the first MLC 2026 match with a big chase and a century from their captain.
